Delegation isn’t just about offloading tasks - it’s a strategic approach to maximising your productivity, reducing your overwhelm and growing your business. When you delegate effectively, you can spend more time working within your zone of genius - doing what you love! Your zone of genius is spending your time doing the things that only you can do and the things you want to do.
Here’s how to lighten your load and focus on what really matters…
Tasks to Delegate
First, think about what tasks need to be done to run your business. Think which business tasks light you up and which tasks you could delegate. You love interacting with clients face to face but your inbox is taking you down - email management is your task to delegate!
Then, explore what needs to be done for your business to grow. Again, think which tasks light you up and which processes you could delegate. Engagement on social media is your piece of cake but you struggle with drafting weekly email newsletters – Could you outsource drafting your weekly email newsletters to a Virtual Assistant?
It’s important to think about all the tasks you enjoy and the tasks you don’t enjoy doing in your business. Would your business benefit if you were only completing the tasks you love to do? Would it make your business more productive if you delegate the tasks that you don’t enjoy?
Finally, explore all recurring tasks in your business - anything which needs to be done daily, weekly or monthly. Think about how long that list is. Are you completing all those tasks yourself? Is it overwhelming?
Choose the Right People
Once you identify the tasks to delegate, determine who in your existing team (if you have one!) is best suited for each task. Consider skills, interests and workloads. Matching the right person to the right task increases efficiency. If your team lacks certain skills, consider hiring a Virtual Assistant (VA) or Online Business Manager (OBM) to help you tackle these tasks.
